Deirdre Atkinson-Byrne - Kindermusik
Deirdre studied to be a childcare worker in her teens at the same time as performing in a local choir.
Her career path took her in a direction away from childcare & music, though upheld her desire to work closely
with people as she worked for 8 years in the employment industry as a Case Manager & Youth Worker with long
term unemployed clients. After travelling the world with her husband she has returned to Perth and reunited her
love of music and youth through working as a Kindermusik Educator. Deirdre is a now a vibrant and energetic
children's music educator who is passionate about sharing her love of music with children and parents.
Henry Atkinson - Guitar
Henry began studying modern guitar at age 11 and by age 15 had developed a thirst for musical
knowledge and a desire to have excellent technical guitar skills. Henry turned his attention to the classical guitar and
was accepted into the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 1993. He studied at Bachelor of Music Education for two years before transfering
to a Bachelor of Science which he completed and worked in the industry for 5+years. Throughout his adult life Henry has been playing and
teaching guitar for his own personal enjoyment and is currently in the process of completing a Graduate Diploma of Primary Education. He would love to hear from you whether you wish to learn music for fun, personal development or to prepare for exams.

Jenny Cotham - Trainee Kindermusik Educator
Jenny has always had a love of music and children. As a child she studied and continues to play piano and violin and has been
involved in many choirs and orchestras throughout her life. Having had a career in commerce, when she had her first daughter, Jenny took the first
steps to achieving her life long goal of becoming a teacher and completed her Education Assistant Diploma. Now a mother of 2 girls
she has had the opportunity to further her education and is in the final year of completing her Graduate Diploma
of Primary Education. Teaching has always been a dream of Jenny's and combining that with her passion for music is a perfect
union.
Lauren Crofts - Piano
Lauren's love for music developed at a young age. Her first experience with the piano was teaching herself to play the
family organ at age 5 and she hasn't looked back. In 2007 Lauren discovered the piano method Simply Music and
became a licensed teacher in 2008. Lauren believes that everyone is musical and teaching piano with Simply
Music allows her to bring this philosophy to life. Simply Music is a remarkable breakthrough piano method
that has students of all ages playing great sounding blues, contemporary, accompaniment and classical music
from their very first lessons. Its also a wonderful way to introduce children to formal music tuition!
Suitable ages 5 – 96. Lauren teaches from her own home in Nedlands and invites you to a free introductory
class if you wish to learn more.
